"What a great opportunity to meet "Stella" and learn about one of our own wonderful and greatly mis-understood species! "Stella is NH's ONLY captive-bred traveling striped skunk!

The Striped Skunk has been illegal in NH for a long time due to it being classified as a Level-1 rabies-vector species among wild populatons. With a regulatory change in the summer of 2007, we are excited to be the first NH Zoo / traveling exhibitor to be able to offer a captive-bred skunk as a part of our programs.

Skunks are NOT legal to possess in any New England State without proper state wildlife permits. Though they live in our back yards... it is unlawful to take them into your home or keep them as a pet. If one is injured or orphaned, do not make any physical contact and contact your local police, Game Warden or Wildlife Rehabilitator!
